This year we are offering the theme of 'Bringing Balance'. Yin & Yang.
Since we chose this theme, much has changed in our world and yet this theme remains poignant.
Nature knows about balance, horses can remind us of our own true nature & help us return to balance. The COVID event has brought us many challenges and many gifts.
Perhaps some of us have found a greater sense of balance in having to slow down and stop our habitual daily behaviours, including work. While others may have experienced increased levels of stress as the heat is literally turned up on our lives.
Wherever you find yourselves, we invite you to come to the herd to seek refuge, to seek the unique guidance and reflection that the equine nation so readily offers us. We invite you to redress that which is out of balance and integrate what you are learning. This is a call to envision and live into, a future where the base of who we are in relation to our world comes from rooted stability. We intend to strengthen our connection to the spiritual and step into present time with equilibrium.
During this event, we will settle into being, take stock of where we feel we are in or out of balance & with the help of the horses, seek equilibrium. In bringing balance to our own realm and in relation to the horses, we trust what we do will ripple out through our lives and to all our connections so we are part of a greater story of moving in to balance with all things.
Working with the horses reveals what may be hidden, what may need integration & can show us useful adjustments or completely new avenues to explore. Where we are whole & balanced will be strengthened and celebrated by the work we do. Where we are off centre we will be guided back.
What Happens: Each day we will dance and we will spend time with the horses out on the land. You do not need experience of either of these activities to engage fully in the retreat and those with experience are also warmly welcomed. We will teach you basic horsemanship skills and movement/embodiment practices. We will totally support you to go at the pace that is right for you as you find your way into the Horse Dance.
During our time together we will work towards the ceremony of the Horse Dance. Each person's ceremony is unique and is choreographed and created according to the themes you are working with and what unfolds in the moment. We ask you to bring a piece of music that touches you in some way, we ask you to bring something to wear that connects you to your sense of balance...yin & yang, this could be a small item of jewellery or a full costume.
The work we offer is spiritual, though not religious, it is grounded and intimate, it is fun, nourishing and deep. The horses bring us into the heart, into the body, they help quiet the mind and can act as a bridge between the earthly realms and the unseen mystery. Some experience of personal development may be helpful, please get in touch to find out more and to see if this is something you might enjoy and benefit from.
The Venue is Heartshore Stables, Minchinhampton near Stroud, Gloucestershire.
These retreats are limited to 6 participants, we expect participants to take responsibility to socially distance where needed and carry out cleanliness practices to increase our mutual safety. Because of this we ask that you bring your own food for all lunches and all evening meals. There are very basic cooking facilities on site.
If you are not local and you would like to stay on site you can camp for £10 a night.
